Problem Solved: How Can I Improve Wellness At Home?

Updated: Mar 12, 2022

Preventing a problem is always a better solution than trying to solve the problem afterwards. Wellness is so important because it is the prevention piece for which we are super strong advocates. Read below for tips on how to be well!

Diabetes

Diabetes is a chronic disease that occurs when the pancreas is no longer able to make insulin, or when the body cannot make good use of the insulin it produces. Type 2 diabetes accounts for at least 90% of all cases of diabetes. People with type 2 diabetes can often initially manage their condition through exercise and diet.

Help prevent and manage diabetes is by:

1. Making healthy food choices like eating lean meats 2. Limiting sugary beverages 3. Snack on protein instead of chips or sweets 4. Being active, even just taking a short walk each day will make a big impact!

What is Home Health?

Home Health Care is a medical service that can provide skilled nursing care, occupational, physical & speech therapy to help a person gain knowledge, strength, balance, and endurance so you or your loved one can get your everyday things done on your own again. These services are covered by your insurance with a physician’s order and you don’t have to have a hospital stay to start home health! If you notice a change in the way you or a loved one is doing at home just ask your primary care physician for an order to get started!

What Is In Home Care?

In Home Care is a non-medical service that provides assistance for people that are unable to complete tasks at home. For example, if someone is unable to cook or clean the house or maybe needs help bathing, an aide from an In Home Care Agency will come in and take care of these things. In Home Care must be paid for by the recipient unless they have Medicaid which does cover the service in certain situations.

Managing Caregiver Stress

Caregiving can be stressful! When providing care to a loved one, the caregiver often neglects themselves and can become even more stressed. It is important to have patience and remember to take care of yourself so you can take care of your person. For some tips on managing caregiver stress click the link below!
